Lundazi to host a K1.1 million Beauty Pageant

OVER a million Kwacha is up for grabs as Lundazi in Eastern Province
is set to host its first beauty pageant of this nature with a BMW as an accompanying prize.

This event comes three months after the country witnessed one of the biggest beauty peageant to be held in Zambia called
“Miss My Home Town”(MHT) pageant held in Choma and funded by Africa Union Holdings chairman James Ndambo.

The winner of MHT bagged US$150,000 with a Mercedes Benz and the other in the senior category went away with US$50,000 and an X6 BMW.

However, the Lundazi beauty pageant’s overall winner will pocket a lumpsum of K500, 000 cash and a brand new 2022 BMW X 6 motor vehicle.

While the first runner up will get K350, 000 cash and the second will walk away with K250, 000 cash.

Revealed during a stakeholders meeting held yesterday in Lundazi, the peageant will be sponsored by Jumani Group of Companies, owned by a Zambian based in Dubai by the name of Leonard Phiri.

The event, slated for next month on October 21, is meant to empower the girl child to become a brand ambassador for the company and youths in Lundazi.

King Jumani Group of Companies representative Kelvin Mumba disclosed that the group’s chief executive officer has invested K1.1 million as cash prize money for the first, second and third winners of the pageant.

The pageant’s organizing chairperson Rabson Mumba called on female youths in Lundazi, Chasefu and Lumezi to apply and contest the forthcoming beauty pageant scheduled for October 21, 2022.

Rabson stated that the organisation is willing to work with stakeholders in the three districts to ensure that the first-ever beauty pageant is successful.

Lundazi District Commissioner Marjorie Banda expressed happiness stating that such a development will help uplifting the livelihood of the locals

Banda noted that Government has created an enabling environment for companies such as King Juman to easily invest in the district.

Meanwhile, Mumba revealed that King Jumani Group of Companies also intends on investing in various infrastructure projects across Lundazi, Lumezi and Chasefu districts.

Among the projects include Royal University, a paradise hotel and a shopping mall aimed at reducing unemployment levels among the local people.

“We have decided to invest in Lundazi, Chasefu and Lumezi because I emanate from the three districts. My vision is to improve my home town with massive infrastructure as well as empower the local people, especially youths, “ Mumba said.

Mumba further indicated that King Jumani Group will construct a modern hospital and a boarding secondary school in Chasefu District which will enable the local people attain high-quality education from lower primary up to secondary school.

The company called for the government’s and stakeholders’ full support they embark on the development journey in these three districts
