Meet Ndumiso Mona, The Man Who Fought And Won A Vicious Stray Leopard

It was a matter of life and death for hospitalised Ndumiso Mona after he was confronted by a stray leopard which had escaped from the Kruger National Park.

Mona, who suffered numerous injuries from the attack but emerged supreme, had to use his bare hands to tussle with the wild cat.

THE HOSPITALISED MAN REFLECTS ON THE FIGHT
According to the most quoted part of News 24’s version of the incident, Mona reflected by saying: “I stared death in the eyes, I was ready to punch like a boxer, I told myself one of us had to die”. His story went viral after the News24 piece.

Although he was the ultimate survivor of this leopard VS human being battle, Ndumiso Mona had to be hospitalised after the incident.

He received medical treatment for injuries on his hands, body and face, according to reports.

SOCIAL MEDIA WANTS NDUMISO TO BE CROWNED THE KING

This unusual fight has garnered traction on social media, with many users ready to crown Ndumiso Mona as the ‘real’ Zulu King.

The sentiments come after the new King of the Zulu National MisuZulu kaZwelithini embarked on a hunting spree for a lion before his coronation.

Unlike, Mona, His Majesty, used a firearm under the protection of his servants and law enforcement during the takedown of the king of the jungle.

Percival Koapeng said: “The guys were fighting for the throne in KZN, even the current king had to use a gun to put the Lion down, this guy deserves the throne, he killed the leopard with his bare hands”.

“ I can’t imagine what it was like to stare death straight in the eyes. Few are as brave as you are…”

In addressing the issue of roaming wildlife, the IFP leadership in KZN embarked on a fact-finding mission on Friday, 26 August, following an outcry over wildlife crisis in uLundi.
