FC Barcelona youngster, Pablo Gavi renews his contract with Barça until 2026 with a €1B release clause.
4,500 fans at the Camp Nou witness the ceremony.
Laporta, Gavi and his family are also at the Camp Nou for Gavi’s contract extension ceremony.
According to Ferran Martinez, Gavi has stopped living in La Masia but he still has his room assigned. He still returns to eat with the teammates of his generation. Educators see him as mature and focused on football as always.
Barça will not be able to give Gavi a first team number until January. The player will wear the number ‘6’ from January onwards.
Joan Laporta: “Today is a historic day because the present and the future of Barça are looking at us. Gavi represents talent and effort.”
“Today we are renewing a player for the present and for the future.”
“It is a happy day for Barcelona and for Gavi and his family.”
“I want to thank Ivan de la Peña, Gavi’s agent, for his insistence on coming to Barça when Gavi was still in Sevilla.”
Pablo Gavi: “I am very happy with the renewal, I have been dreaming about this since my childhood. I want to achieve success here.”
“Scoring goals wearing this shirt in front of the best fans in the world is a dream.”
“I have always been clear that I want to succeed here.”
“I try to take it as normal as possible, at La Masia they helped me a lot. La Masia is something unique and I am also grateful to everyone… The chefs, the teachers, the coaches, everyone. They taught me to work and to be humble.”
“The day I scored my first goal for Barça’s first team will always stay with me.”
